Caterham has launched its new Seven 160 – an 80hp entry-level variant of its back-to-basics sports car available that’s available now from £14,995. That’s in kit form: if you’re not keen to build it yourself you’ll have to stretch to £17,995, which still offers a decent fun/money ratio thanks to its kerb weight of less than 500kg: that equates to 160hp-per-tonne. The Goodwood Revival this year concentrates on all things 'Mini'. This year’s theme is ‘Swinging Sixties’ which gives us the excuse to run the shot of the Mini-Skirted lovelies at the top. There will be a recreation of Carnaby Street from its sixties heyday, with Saturday being ‘Ladies Day’ with the encouragement to wear the shortest skirts possible (I think there should be a ‘Leg Judge’ to qualify the participants, though – I know, chauvinist pig).
Richard Hammond has wrecked his Morgan Aeromax in a prang in Gloucestershire
The Hamster was apparently on his way back from a flying lesson (look out for the Hamster and Captain Slow in flying washing machines in the next series of Top Gear, then) when a car braked sharply at a roundabout at Over, in Gloucestershire. The resulting four car shunt – with the Hamster at the back – ended up with much swapping of details, but no injuries. And Hammond came off least worse being at the back.
